About the Owners
Brother and sister Mary and Mark Forge grew up in Worcester, MA to parents Rudy and Phyllis Forge. Their father and mother worked in municipal roles. Rudy Forge, their father, was well known as Worcester City Treasurer, President of Worcester Musicians Union and an active CPA. Their mother Phyllis Forge was a Spencer, MA Elementary School teacher for more than 30 years.
Both of their parents instilled in them an incredible love of family, hard work, integrity and respect for others.
Growing up Mark and Mary spent their weekends either on their mother’s childhood home farm in Spencer, MA or with their father’s parents in South Boston. As they grew up, they saw first generation immigrants and Massachusetts founding family members teach them hard work, solid values, diverse and unique skills.
Mark and Mary enjoyed the farm life and learned all aspects of the farm. They grew livestock as well as an extensive vegetable and flower garden.
It was their love for their parents and farm life that inspired them to work while they were in school. MSF Landscapes was born in the 1970’s while Mark was attending St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury and Mary was attending Anna Maria College in Worcester the brother and sister team wanted to help pay for their educations and get a head start on life.
They started their business with a truck and a lawn mower. Their motivation to better themselves and help their parents led them to expand their business while Mark was attending the College of the Holy Cross and Mary was studying to become a teacher.
By the time Mark was graduating college he received a great offer to join IBM’s management program. While Mark was pleased and honored with this opportunity, he loved what he was doing with his landscape snow removal business more. He realized landscape and snow removal was his true calling.
While Mary’s calling was teaching elementary school music in Framingham, MA for over 25 years, she continued her role as a Chief Financial Officer and Design Consultant to this day. Mary was a partner in the business and at the forefront of a Women Owned Businesses.
Mary and Mark are proud to have led a path for women in a predominantly male industry. At present time MSF Landscapes employs several women in both management and in the field. Our philosophy is the best most qualified person for the job is the person that will be doing the job.
Mark and Mary take great pride in their work and reputation.
As a leader in the industry they denote much of their success to their talented, diverse and hardworking team. They make sure that each project exceeds expectations
